CAQ Rescheduling/Cancelling Events
Queensland’s weather is particularly unpredictable, rain and storms arrive rapidly and with force. Venue managers are encouraged to be cognisant of early warning applications i.e., Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) applications on mobile devices, local council warning websites etc, to keep them abreast of developing emergent weather situations. Play will be delayed based on unsafe playing conditions, hail, lightning and court flooding.
There are times, especially during epidemics/pandemics or natural disasters, weather events, flooding etc, when programmed tournaments of events will require to be either rescheduled or cancelled. This Croquet Association of Queensland (CAQ) policy defines the procedures for such rescheduling or cancellation.
If circumstances indicate that it is likely that a CAQ tournament or event may require to be rescheduled or cancelled, the CAQ Events Manager in consultation with the Management Committee of CAQ is to review the need to reschedule or cancel the tournament or event as late as possible but in sufficient time to communicate widely its decision.
Once this decision is reached an appropriate news item will be posted on the CAQ website.
Directives from Queensland Health and the Chief Health officer are to be followed and adhered to. If borders or areas are to be closed or placed in lockdown, then venue managers will inform players to make arrangements to return home immediately if able and will inform the CAQ secretary secretary@croquetqld.org of the situation and potential claims for cancellations and refunds of accommodation etc.
Players who travel to events need to be informed as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary travel and if possible, cancel their accommodation or travel plans in time to obtain a refund.
Entry fees to the event will be refunded when the event has been cancelled by CAQ.
Note. If a player withdraws from the event after the draw has been held, entry fees will not be refunded.
Refunds of accommodation or travel costs will not be paid by CAQ unless a player or team have been selected to represent Queensland and the event is cancelled.
This policy is to be read in conjunction with the Australian Croquet Association Policy, Rescheduling Cancellation of Events Policy. https://croquet-australia.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/ReschedulingCancellation-of-Events-Policy.pdf
